Buy of the Week

Patience paid off this week ... a pair of Riders baby pink skinnies that I had noticed a couple of months ago came home with me when MYER so kindly took an extra fifty percent off the sale items in the miss shop department.

They are a very fine corduroy in the cutest baby/lolly pink. Usually I would steer well clear of cord but these were too adorable to leave behind.

They were reduced to $35 from an original $100. I also picked up some riders denim shorts and a pair of riders bumster vegas  jeans as well as a Ladakh jumpsuit and miss shop animal print dress. I might have gone a little crazy but how can you resist for an extra 50% off!

Flea Market Finds soon.

Buy of the Week

I guess I'm cheating this week as the husband and I picked up this item at a garage sale a couple of weeks ago - not this week but hey, it was a buy of the week a few weeks ago before I started this feature!

It's an old radiogram and we estimate it to be approximately from the 60s.

The best bit?
It was FIVE dollars!

Honestly we didn't care if it worked or not as we thought it would make a great and functional piece of furniture - and that it does! It fits in quite nicely with my old TV/suitcase/fan/clock setup in the corner of the loungeroom.

We haven't tried the record player but the radio does work. I need to get my electrician dad (yes, it's very handy) to check it out though. We left it plugged in the day we got it and returned home to a very smoky smelling house. We have confirmed now that it was the radiogram as it trips off the power switch when you plug it in.

We did have this bookcase laid on its side as our under-the-TV unit but now it has a nice home in the corner.

Please let me know if these homey type posts are boring the bee-jesus out of you!

Have a fab weekend.

Buy of the Week

Buy of the Week comes to you a little later than expected due to a busy Friday and Saturday at the Toowoomba swap meet. I will share my finds shortly but just wanted to share my buy of the week.

I've been wanting a pair of these metallic havaiana's for ages but there is no way I could justify spending $35 on a pair. A local family run department store always has great sales (and their prices are always under RRP) so I snapped these up for $20. Not bad if I say so myself.

Some people may be appalled that people pay that much for thongs/flip flops/jandals but these are the bomb and are my footwear of choice.

Buy of the Week

This week's instalment of buy of the week comes to you from a mildly hungover, make up free Peta who is one of the unlucky few who did not secure the day off. For those of you outside of Australia, yesterday was a public holiday to celebrate Australia Day and a long weekend would have made the celebration that little bit sweeter.

This week I scored two Revlon ColorBurst Lipsticks from the Malouf Group Pharamacy's big sale for $6.00 each! I think their regular retail price is over $20.00 so it was a pretty sweet deal!

The husband did manage to get today off and is picking me up for lunch soon. I think we'll dine in at Pizza Hut thanks to Mr. shop-a-docket . Classy I know!

What was your best buy of the week?

Have a fabulous weekend and welcome to my new followers! New followers and comments always put a smile on my dial.

Buy of the Week

Thanks to all that joined me for buy of the week last week.

I purchased this week's beauty just yesterday at the delightful Vinnies. It just had my name on it and was $10.00 - a bit battered around the edges but perfectly pretty for my liking.

Without further ado:

old phones seem to be popping up all over the place! Just in the last week my beautiful friend Mel received one for her birthday and Sophie also picked one up a couple of weeks ago. Follow the links and see the beauties they received - in much better nick and prettier than mine but I'm happy all the same : )

I'll be linking up to flea market finds on Sunday.

What have you found this week?!

Buy of the week

welcome to my weekly instalment of buy of the week.

for a while now I've been thinking of getting a pair of converse lace ups. I know they aren't the most fashionable item but I've seen a few people (and celebs like Nicole Richie) rockin' them and thought I should give it a try.

I also thought it might encourage me to ride my retro-look bike a bit more (hasn't worked yet).

it's pretty ain't it?

I found a pair of converse at Amart all sports normally priced at $89.95 but going out for a bargain price of ten buckaroonies and my dreams were answered. Sweet deal or what?!

Did anyone try and get every colour in these slip ons back in the day? I look at them now and cringe a little.

Between my twinnie and I I reckon we had at least six pairs. I also had a pair of blue one stars at school and I took such pride in decorating them with glitter and puff paint. Oh those were the days.

Remember, I'd love you to join me  - what was your best buy of the week?

Buy of the Week

New year - new blog - new idea ... a weekly post focusing on my best buy of the week.

It could be a grocery item, something from an op shop or garage sale or something that I've been waiting to go on sale and have hit some luck.

This week's best buy? ...

A pair of flatties from Katies of all places.

Katies was one of those places that I wouldn't dare to step in to in fear of being seen. I was of the opinion that only people of my mother's age shop there. At some stage though I changed my tune and always have a bit of a rummage when I receive the 50% off the marked price emails at sale time. These shoes were originally a ridiculous price like $39.95 for 100% synthetic but for $12.50 I couldn't leave them behind.

Winner!

Would love to hear what your best buy has been this week.
