Treasures

It's Sunday evening and I'm sitting in front of the heater watching Masterchef. It's been a while since I've linked up with Sophie's weekly flea market finds and thought what better time than after a weekend where I found some lovely treasures.

First find, inspired by the adorable Zara is this cute little milk glass trinket container. I now have four peices of milk glass so I guess I now have a collection? lol

I then picked up this hippy 70s top from a garage sale with a couple of other items. It's one that needs to be belted but looks like it has never been worn and is very unique.

On Friday while on my regular lunchtime trip to Vinnies I spotted this beauty in the fancy dress section. I happily handed over my three dollars and it has now been washed and awaiting its first outing. I think I might wear this to my auntie's seventies themed 40th birthday party in a couple of weeks ... if I can wait that long!

Finally, Black Caviar wasn't the only winner this weekend. I won this gorgeous trophy from a garage sale for three dollars and only realised that once I got it home and gave it a bit of silvo treatment that is in fact quite old! From 1939 to be exact. It is currently housing some of my favourite costume jewellery.

Hope you all had a fabulous weekend

p.s. notice my new blog design? Big props to Felicity of Pursuit of Felicity - she was great to work with and I can highly recommend her work!

Game of Tennis Anyone?

Thought I'd share with you all a couple of the many goodies I've picked up over the last week or so at my favourite kind of outlet - an op shop or garage sale.

First up, is a dressmaker's model snapped up at a garage sale for five dollars yesterday. It is the perfect accompaniment to the sewing machine that mum and dad bought me for my birthday : )
(now I just need to figure out how to use it!)

The other super special item is an old tennis dress with the sweetest peter pan collar and little tennis appliques. It was three dollars from Lifeline and all it needs is a bit of napisan action to bring it back to life. I hope to wear it in winter with tights although it looks a little short.

Pop on over to Sophie's to see lots of other thrift action.

Op Shop Goodies

There would rarely be a week that goes by that I wouldn't at least hit one op shop or tackle the Saturday morning craziness otherwise known as garage sales. I seem to constantly forget though to share what goodies I have found. Here is a bit of a look at a couple of things I've found lately : )

retro dress and jacket heaven! All around $3.00 each and about my size. Love the patterns!

shabby step ladder - five dollars & vintage umbrella - one dollar (both garage sale)

Playing along with Sophie today. Have you found anything lately?!

Ironing Out the Wrinkles

Friday morning just passed, my alarm woke me up at four fifteen to prepare me for two long days of Toowoomba Swap Meet action. My excitement for the two days ahead decreased pretty early on Friday morning when the weather proved that it was going to be horrid all day.

That didn't stop mum and I from exploring the vast Toowoomba showgrounds packed to the brim with stall holders selling things from car parts to clothes and everything in between.

THE most beautiful cash register was spotted nearby to our site but at a pricely sum of $2,200 I knew it wouldn't be coming home with me.

I didn't discover any real treasures on Friday and was feeling a little disheartened. I'd made about $150 by about lunchtime Saturday and wanted to spend it! We went for a bit more of a wander and I went past the stall with the oh-so-booootiful cash register.

I found my treasure!
A vintage ironing board.

I'd seen one on Sophie's flea market finds recently and from then, knew it was something I just had to have.

I quickly styled the ironing board in the laundry this morning. The milk glass vase and the glass jar are swap meet purchases too. More on them later.

What do you think? It may inspire me to keep the laundry tidier from now on.
