What I Wore Wednesday

Hola senors and senoritas! It's a beautiful day in South East Queensland - I'm so looking forward to summer!

Have had a blast of a morning errrm partying working. WE had our monthly morning tea and the university that i work at (USQ) is having a big day for staff and students to launch their new marketing campaign. There is free food and activities and my workmate Holly and I have already have a wrestle at the gladiator style jumping castle. My competitive nature thankfully allowed me to win although Holly claims she wasn't trying as hard as she could because she didn't want to 'beat the boss'. Might head out for round II shortly! This outfit wasn't very appropriate for jumping castles but is perfect for today's weather.

What I Wore Wednesday - Asos Galore

Another dreary day here in Toowoomba could only mean one thing - a bright outfit teamed with what else than my hunter wellies. I am so happy I bought these even if the husband found out how much they really cost this morning. He actually took it quite well.

I've had this suitcase print jacket from asos for yonks now but this is the first time I've actually worn it. It's a super thin polyester type material so does not really provide much warmth but does the job all the same. Elizabeth Olsen even thinks so.

Turns out I'm a walking asos ad today!

I also made my first purchase with shopbop today ... i had put the matthew williamson neon frames i blogged about here in my wishlist and was advised that they had been further reduced. I bought them this morning for under $100 after umming and ahhing about buying them for $150+. Glad I waited.

Do you like wishlists or are they just plain mean to your bank balance?

Weekending

Had a fab weekend celebrating a friend's uni degree and my aunty and uncle's combined 40th birthdays.

Dinner was at Sofra turkish restaurant in Toowoomba and was delightful.

The 40th birthday party was 70s themed.

I had two conflicting comments last week. One from Christie complimenting my photos and another telling me I needed a better camera. Most of my photos are taken on my iphone and edited using creative kit in picasa. I'm no photography expert and my photos are generally taken by a very special work friend and as long as they are somewhat clear I'm happy to post them.

also I was told that people who weren't signed it to Google were not able to leave comments. I've rectified that so bring on the comments.

p.s. i've discovered Offspring and it's my latest obsession!

A day at the races

Last Thursday was spent spending the day with Mel of Allure and Grace Styling at our hometown's big race day - the Weetwood Handicap. After receiving some shoe and clutch advice from M, we headed out.

Toowoomba race days leave a lot to be desired. Lots of young girls wearing skimpy dresses that barely cover their buttocks or are just plainly inappropriate or ugly. There were a few exceptions though. There were some gorgeous headpieces and wonderfully classy and well thought out ensembles.

M teamed a Portmans lace frock with girly accessories and an awesome floppy hat. Here is a quick preview of her outfit but I'm sure she'll do a post over at http://talesoflaceandfrills.blogspot.com

I chose to wear a George Ermis dress with a Morgan and Taylor wool/felt hat and some old, you guessed it, Diana Ferrari heels!

M and I with my bro ... he is on a weight loss mission and has lost over 10kg so far and is looking good!

This same hat was selling at David Jones for around $80 ... I picked it up from a local family department store for $45. The dress was 70% off and was reduced to around $60 and my clutch is from asos.

Man I love the races - it's such an awesome opportunity to rock a frock.

On another note, I really have no idea about makeup. I hardly ever wear eyeshadow because I have no idea. Here is my lame attempt at eyeshadow.

Till tomorrow, xxx

Race Day Fashion Diary

Toowoomba is a big horse racing town and the annual Weetwood race day is nearing. The 10,000+ crowd meet, which coincides with the Toowoomba Show Holiday is the biggest social event of the year.

My go-to-fashion-friend M and I are attending what could be my last Weetwood race day due to the impending move to the Sunshine Coast at the end of the year.

I thought I would do a bit of a re-cap of fashion choices throughout the years - some right, some not so right. Let's just say I'm glad I don't have any photos prior to this as they were probably terrible!

In other sad news I had to replace my blog template. I'm not overly happy with the current one so will  be looking around for a new one.

Hope you enjoyed my little trip down memory lane.

Ironing Out the Wrinkles

Friday morning just passed, my alarm woke me up at four fifteen to prepare me for two long days of Toowoomba Swap Meet action. My excitement for the two days ahead decreased pretty early on Friday morning when the weather proved that it was going to be horrid all day.

That didn't stop mum and I from exploring the vast Toowoomba showgrounds packed to the brim with stall holders selling things from car parts to clothes and everything in between.

THE most beautiful cash register was spotted nearby to our site but at a pricely sum of $2,200 I knew it wouldn't be coming home with me.

I didn't discover any real treasures on Friday and was feeling a little disheartened. I'd made about $150 by about lunchtime Saturday and wanted to spend it! We went for a bit more of a wander and I went past the stall with the oh-so-booootiful cash register.

I found my treasure!
A vintage ironing board.

I'd seen one on Sophie's flea market finds recently and from then, knew it was something I just had to have.

I quickly styled the ironing board in the laundry this morning. The milk glass vase and the glass jar are swap meet purchases too. More on them later.

What do you think? It may inspire me to keep the laundry tidier from now on.
