On feeling gross ... and then not so gross

Yesterday was one of those days where I just felt horrible about myself. You know those days where you throw something on that looks somewhat respectable, slap some makeup on, and tie your hair back in a messy bun? Now most days, I would be quite fine with the minimal effort I had put in but yesterday whenever I passed a mirror I felt frumpy and ugly. My hair was giving me the shits - unstraightened with little curly bits popping up (and out) everywhere, not to mention the FRIZZ.

I didn't fancy feeling that way today so put the effort in (still not much effort) to at least be somewhat happy with my reflection in the mirror. And I feel 500% better for it. I am forever indebted to the inventor of the GHD. What a genius that person was.

This dress would have to have had the most wears of any dress in my wardrobe. It's a blue juice number I picked up at Myer on sale for a specific occasion and thankfully has served me for many more specific and not-at-all specific outings.

It's nearly the weekend - hooray!

What I Wore Wednesday

Today called for s simple outfit as I spent most of my morning after the gym and before work vaccuming and windex-ing our mirrors and windows in preparation for our house going on the market.

This dress was purchased a few years ago with a voucher the husband's nanna got me. Gotta love vouchers.

The Sea Change ... It's ON!!!!!!!!!!

Why hello lovelies. BIG news this week!

Before we went to America I applied for a job at the Sunshine Coast and was eagerly awaiting a phone call to see whether I had secured an interview. I was pretty sure I would at least get an interview and was also somewhat confident that I would get the job. Well I DID GET THE JOB!

What does that mean then? The husband and I will be moving to the Sunshine Coast probably right on new years. I start my new job on the 14th January. Receiving that phone call was surreal. The idea of moving is now a reality and actually securing a new job means we actually have to moveI've been working at the Uni for over 10 years (and in my current position for around 6 years) and will get my 10 year service award in December. It will be sad to leave my co-workers who are a great bunch of people but I'm up for the challenge.

What will even be harder is leaving our lovely friends and the comfort of living in my hometown but ... I can't complain. I'm going to be living seaside!

I am IN LOVE with this house at Buderim ... seeing the bank tomorrow to see how much money they might consider loaning us.

Anyway, enough of that.

Here's what I wore for What I Wore Wednesday. A little bit of a cooler day allowed me to wear a floral dress with sleeves that I picked up at Myer for 75% off.

Why haven't more of you entered my giveaway? Is no-one interested in a fabulous nutcase helmet? There is less than 5 entries so far ... that's pretty good odds.

Christmas Wishlist post coming tomorrow for anyone out there needing pressie ideas!

What I Wore Wednesday

Good afternoon/good evening and goodnight ... sending hellos to all wherever in the world you're reading from. Are there any readers from outside Australia?! I'd love to hear from you - remember anyone can leave a comment!

Today's outfit is an op shop and retail blend. My favourite item is this tangerine (Roxy, that's for you!) Jane Lamerton cardigan that I picked up from a fantastic charity shop in Toowoomba named Orphans and Widows. The stock comes from fancy-pancy suburbs in Brisbane is is VERY reasonably priced. This cardigan is currently being sold in Myer for I'd imagine at least $80. This was $10 and appears unworn. The fact that it was a size 14 didn't deter me at all. So many other good quality brands are available and most items are $10 and under. If an item isn't sold for six weeks or so it moves up the back to the $2 section!

I'll be frequenting this shop much more often ... they have vintage too!

and here is a little fun Leah (my trusty photographer) and I had this morning. FAIL.

Remember, my giveaway is open till midnight Friday. Go and enter!

What I Wore Wednesday and Shopping

Still loving knits and couldn't leave this one behind at Myer the weekend before last when all knits were 40% off. This one came down to $30.

If you follow me on instagram (peta_ballerina) you would have seen that I got two parcels at work today. Wanna know what I got?

This skirt from eBay. It fits perfectly but is slightly longer than I thought it was. Very cute though.
AND ... a pair of leather pants from my fave online store ... asos. I also put a pair of 200 denier tights in my cart to make the total over $100 AUD so I could use the 10% off code. A very important lesson. The items in my cart came to a total of AUD $100.33 and once I applied the 10% discount the total reduced to $90.30. I always change the currency to pounds before I check out though. Even with my credit card's currency conversion fee the total charged to my account was $83.32. A saving of $6.98 may not seem like much but who doesn't want to save money?!

This is my first item of leather clothing (putting in an order for a jacket for christmas) and for those who are interested, the quality seems good and I bought the size 12. It's always risky buying pants or jeans online but I'm happy to report these fit just about perfectly. They might be a teensy bit loose in the leg but hopefully I can make them work. How would you wear them?

Oh, and some more shopping from earlier in the week. Being an active gym junkie (and instructor) I cannot resist Lorna Jane. I bought the python full length tights and a super warm hoodie with a hint of my favourite trend at the moment - you guess it, neon!

**MUST STOP SHOPPING and START SAVING for our trip to AMERICA!

As always, thanks for reading

What I Wore Wednesday

I've been a little slack on the outfit posting (well all posting lately) but I'm back with enthusiasm!

I picked up this cute (what I thought was a dress) romper from Myer in Queen Street Mall (Brisbane) on Sunday for 75% off the marked price. Its original price was something like $89.95 ... a little lot steep if you ask me! It may be a little short for work but I work in a pretty casual workplace so it's all peachy keen.

shoulder pads baby!

better make sure i don't flash anyone any boobage today!

What does everyone have planned for Easter? The husband and I don't have too many plans - hopefully just a lot of relaxing and eating ... and maybe some cleaning.

Finally, have you watched Two Broke Girls? It is totally my new favourite show. How could you not love it with lines like these:

'we have a pooper in stall two' ... 'who shops and plops, i mean really?'

Hilarious!
