Bump Day not Hump Day: Week 28 Edition

I'm back online after being phoneless for four days. I managed to leave my phone outside on Saturday and it poured. There was no saving that baby. I think my husband really enjoyed the fact that I wasn't on my phone 24/7 catching up on instagram, playing candy crush or browsing ebay. In the 14 or so hours I've been back online I think I've somewhat caught up.

I'm moved into the final trimester of this pregnancy and although I am SO excited to meet our little man and overly intrigued to see what he looks like I have had the occasional oh shit moment. Like, oh shit, I have no idea how to look after a baby - I am beyond clueless but know that the husband and I will figure it out.

I'm still going really well - I get the occasional niggle and this boy is very active but I can't complain. I know I have had it very lucky. I've having a baby shower in two weeks and can't wait to see people I haven't seen since we moved up to the coast.

Ag-a-doo-doo-doo, push pineapple, shake the tree

Have you ever worn an outfit and then almost immediately regretted it once you're out in public? That could be the case for me today given in my first thirty minutes at work this morning I was referred to as big bird and been told that I have pumpkin legs. Hmmm, perhaps a bad choice?

Coloured tights may not be everyone's cup of tea but when Sussan are selling 120 denier (super thick giving complete coverage) for $10.00 off the regular selling price (bringing them down to $6.95) I had to pick some up. I bought these and a scarlet pair and am thinking of going back to get some of the cobalt ones. The hardest thing when wearing coloured tights is picking a shoe colour to match. Oh, and having the confidence to forget about what others are thinking about your attire. Other bloggers that rock coloured tights regularly are rebecca over at the clothes horse and marisa at the shades of monet chronicles

Oh, I also got my quite pregnant belly out on the beach on the weekend. The husband and I had a lovely Saturday and the weather was just glorious - over twenty eight degrees in May - I knew there was a reason we moved here! I heard some lifesavers behind me whispering about my body - thank god one of them had some sense to say 'she is quite obviously pregnant' ... well thanks, um, i think.
now, less than three months to go! I am frightened at how big this belly is going to get. No signs of any stretch marks just yet - let's hope it stays that way.

Happy Monday.

What I Wore: Week 24 Edition

Have you entered my trade secret GIVEAWAY yet? Go here pronto if you want to win a $50 voucher - I have two up for grabs and will post anywhere in Australia!

I've gotten to the stage in my pregnancy where I can literally wear about three things in my wardrobe. And my wardrobe is CHOCKAS. Don't believe me? Check out my instagram feed at peta_ballerina. Yes, FULL huh?
It's quite depressing really.

I did manage to find this gorgeous dress/tunic once I'd culled a substantial amount of dresses out of the mix. A gem from Sportsgirl that I have yet to wear yet but absolutely LOVE. I do wonder though what Sportsgirl's intentions were when they made this dress. It's way too short for a dress in my opinion without tights or leggings but then would it look silly with pants or skinny jeans? Let me know your thoughts.

Speaking of said overcrowded wardrobe, I have decided to do a PROPER cull and actually be serious and brutal about it. I've been inspired a few bloggers out there but not sure I could live on such a small selection. What is the best avenue to sell things? I have quite a few vintage dresses that I've decided to part ways with - I've even considered instagramming them and seeing if anyone loves one or many and just have them pay the postage. I actually have particular bloggers in mind for particular items. What do you think? Sometimes eBay is just too hard.

Lastly, I can can confirm I live on the sunshine coast. What a glorious view I get outside my bedroom window out onto the top deck that overlooks the pool. Maybe they are right - Queensland, beautiful one day, perfect the next.

What I Wore Wednesday - Sporty Sista

My expanding belly is limiting the choices I have to select from in the morning to wear to work. Being a bit of a gym nut I have quite the selection of sports gear and thought I would see if I could get away with dressing up, what is essentially, gym gear, with a pair of ballet flats and a bangle.

Monochrome

Today's look is definitely one I can see myself channelling over the months to come. Plain and simple - black and white or to sound a bit more hip, the monochrome trend. I've already bought about 3 dresses in black and white as well as a pair of zebra print pants (more on those soon). You just simply can't go wrong. Add in some stripes and you're on to a winner. Can you believe I'm wearing boots normally tucked away until winter in summer? AND I live on the Sunshine Coast!!

Oh, I mentioned some zebra pants didn't I? This was them. They looked better in person, were reduced to $30 and were perfect for my expanding waistline. Pull on pants don't just have to be for grannies you know! Well who knows where I put them. I fear I may have experienced my first baby brain moment and thrown the bag out without emptying its contents. There was also a cute neon sleeveless top in there also from Barkins. Let's hope I can find the bag but I am pretty certain it's sitting in landfill. Boo. Barkins fancy supplying a poor pregnant lady a replacement pair?

Sorry for those sick of these token belly shots. I'm enjoying this little bump. Seeing Mez from Domestic Divinity's bump yesterday was a little scary - I realise that is me in roughly 20 weeks. All the best Mez for the arrival of your little girl real soon!

Pregnant in Peplum

Today is my first attempt at seeing what the peplum trend is all about. This top from target was reduced to something like $6 so what better way to introduce myself to this oh-so-popular trend. It's soft and super comfortable but I'm unsure if it's suitable for a pregnant belly (if you can make one out at all). I teamed it with some old skorts from ally and my faithful asos brogues

Saturday we went to my sister's mother-in-law's 50th birthday extravanganza. It was heaps of fun to dress up and play around in the photo booth. Can you believe my sissy picked up the Cooper St sequin dress I'm wearing at an op shop for $3?!

Also, I read this morning that fat mum slim in conjunction with blurb is offering a free photo book for anyone worldwide on Saturday for 24 hours only (must pay for postage though) . Like many of us, I have yet to print any of my instagram/facebook photos and when a free photo book is on offer ... why not?!
see the details here.

I might have been sent an email from asos with a 25% off code and might have checked out with these couple of items in my cart.

this one should see my quite well through the pregnancy - here

I've ordered these a size up so I can wear them throughout the next couple of months. I'm too povo to buy leather leggings and I thought these were a good substitute - here

I'm totally loving monochrome at the moment - anyone else? I didn't notice these yesterday but I will definiltey be putting them in my wishlist

Seventeen weeks on Sunday : )

Status: BUN in the OVEN

If you missed my instagram post last night you also would have missed that the husband and I have a

We succeeded after about six months of trying and couldn't quite believe the (initial) three pregnancy tests that came back positive ... followed by the extra two digital tests that followed over the following week. I guess I had to accept the truth after five tests right? Has anyone else every gone to that extreme?

The last couple of weeks have been a bit nerve-racking to say the least. My twin sister's little girl was diagnosed as a cystic fibrosis carrier not long after she was born so naturally I wanted to have the blood test done to see if I was a carrier. Ridiculously, the blood test costs over $300 and not one cent is claimable. My results came back positive and so we booked the husband in for the same blood test. If both parents are cystic fibrosis carriers, the baby has a one in four chance of actually having CF ... a pretty scary and confronting percentage. There is such little awareness of how common the carrier gene is as well as the rate of children born with CF. I believe it is something like 1 in caucasians are carriers and 1 in every 3000 children are born with the disorder. Some quick googling revealed Cystic Fibrosis is the most common, lethal disease among Caucasian people. Did you know that? I certainly didn't.

Anyway, yesterday afternoon I rang our Toowoomba doctor to find out if the results were back yet. The lovely lady on the phone announced that the husband's test was negative - what a bloody relief! My new GP on the coast rang about 15 minutes later to reveal the results of our 12 week scan - all very low risk ... again, another relief! It was time to announce, finally!!!!!!!!! I had found out at 2 weeks so keeping the news to ourselves was very difficult - in fact, too difficult to keep it from everyone given the boozer I am. People really start to become suspicious at Christmas parties when the previous life of the party claims she is hungover from the night before and is 'not drinking tonight'.

I don't think our sonographer was a very good photographer. I think this is the best one.

I've been completely healthy and the only real symptom I have experienced is tiredness. I'm one of the lucky ones that's for sure.

Look forward to sharing the next six months ... and beyond with you all!
