Weekend Plans

Tomorrow is my 29th Birthday. It so happens that my lovely friend Bec's hens weekend is on too. We head down south early tomorrow morning and I'm so looking forward to good company, good food, good wine and good times.

Here is a sneak peek of where we are staying. Can't reveal too much incase miss hen herself decides to have a sticky beak at my blog this afternoon!

Have a fabulous weekend whatever you are doing! xxx

What I Wore Wednesday

I've just returned from our valentines themed monthly morning tea and I may have eaten a big too much! Hopefully this sick feeling in my belly goes away soon as I'm teaching an entire pump class at 12pm!

I actually wore this pink and red outfit yesterday for Valentines Day.

I'm treating myself to a pedicure this afternoon as a gift to myself as my new husband didn't get me anything. He wouldn't normally get my anything so I wasn't surprised ... I just would like to be surprised one day. He's got the rest of his life to come up with a surprise!

katies linen top, revival skirt (ebay), vintage belt, siren pumps (vinnies), cassette society sunnies, typo heart : )

Our valentines celebration was our regular Tuesday night family dinner celebrating two dog's birthdays instead. Logan, our family dog turned 10 yesterday and Rocky (who I'm sure you're all familiar with) turned 4 on Australia Day. We had ice-cream cake. We = the humans and the dogs.

Here are some pics
Happy hump day xxx

Buy of the Week

I guess I'm cheating this week as the husband and I picked up this item at a garage sale a couple of weeks ago - not this week but hey, it was a buy of the week a few weeks ago before I started this feature!

It's an old radiogram and we estimate it to be approximately from the 60s.

The best bit?
It was FIVE dollars!

Honestly we didn't care if it worked or not as we thought it would make a great and functional piece of furniture - and that it does! It fits in quite nicely with my old TV/suitcase/fan/clock setup in the corner of the loungeroom.

We haven't tried the record player but the radio does work. I need to get my electrician dad (yes, it's very handy) to check it out though. We left it plugged in the day we got it and returned home to a very smoky smelling house. We have confirmed now that it was the radiogram as it trips off the power switch when you plug it in.

We did have this bookcase laid on its side as our under-the-TV unit but now it has a nice home in the corner.

Please let me know if these homey type posts are boring the bee-jesus out of you!

Have a fab weekend.

What I Wore Wednesday

It's time for what I wore Wednesday again darlings!

Today's dress was picked up at trade secret last week - $10 cheaper than what the tag said it was. Hello $10 dress!

Obvious dress, asos heels, asos clutch, vintage belt

After seeing these photos I am wondering why everyone at work was telling me how nice my hair looked this morning - freshly washed and left to dry naturally and all. All I see is a pathetic mess of half-assed waves and a whole lot more of frizzy-frizz-frizz. I'll be attacking that with the GHD when I get home!

A big thanks must go to my fabulous co-worker and stand-in photographer Mr Keith Smith ... go check out his work on facebook. My regular photographer was a silly billy and injured herself gardening! Nothing like a shovel through your foot to make use of your health insurance. Get better soon Leah : )

Last but not least, happy birthday to one of my favourite people - Miss Lisa Brockbank! If you are having a bub or are looking for a baby pressie, go check out her lovely creations!

Ironing Out the Wrinkles

Friday morning just passed, my alarm woke me up at four fifteen to prepare me for two long days of Toowoomba Swap Meet action. My excitement for the two days ahead decreased pretty early on Friday morning when the weather proved that it was going to be horrid all day.

That didn't stop mum and I from exploring the vast Toowoomba showgrounds packed to the brim with stall holders selling things from car parts to clothes and everything in between.

THE most beautiful cash register was spotted nearby to our site but at a pricely sum of $2,200 I knew it wouldn't be coming home with me.

I didn't discover any real treasures on Friday and was feeling a little disheartened. I'd made about $150 by about lunchtime Saturday and wanted to spend it! We went for a bit more of a wander and I went past the stall with the oh-so-booootiful cash register.

I found my treasure!
A vintage ironing board.

I'd seen one on Sophie's flea market finds recently and from then, knew it was something I just had to have.

I quickly styled the ironing board in the laundry this morning. The milk glass vase and the glass jar are swap meet purchases too. More on them later.

What do you think? It may inspire me to keep the laundry tidier from now on.

Buy of the Week

Buy of the Week comes to you a little later than expected due to a busy Friday and Saturday at the Toowoomba swap meet. I will share my finds shortly but just wanted to share my buy of the week.

I've been wanting a pair of these metallic havaiana's for ages but there is no way I could justify spending $35 on a pair. A local family run department store always has great sales (and their prices are always under RRP) so I snapped these up for $20. Not bad if I say so myself.

Some people may be appalled that people pay that much for thongs/flip flops/jandals but these are the bomb and are my footwear of choice.
