Hump Day, Bump Day

I've been admiring the shorts suit on many a blogger in the last couple of months but given my current 'state' there isn't much point in investing in one. Enter the extra fifty percent off the marked price sale at sportsgirl on the weekend and the chance I took to try on this pair of elastic waist shorts. They fit perfectly under my bump and I can see them being on regular rotation for the next 10 weeks (or however long they continue to fit.) I realise I may be breaking a few fashion rules wearing black tights under blue shorts but I actually really like this entire outfit. I scored the patent pink belt at another 50% off the marked price sale for $4.95 at sportsgirl a couple of weeks ago.

I had to include a couple of shots of my darling Rock dog today. It is truly unbelievable how sensitive he can be when he feels his 'parents' are in distress or upset. I had a bit of a (well a pretty decent) teary in bed the other night and I was lying on my side while rocky was at the end of the bed. He walked over to me, stood over me and placed his paw on my shoulder. It was so, so adorable. Just like this morning when he placed his paw on my belly just after I'd returned from the gym.

Bump Day not Hump Day

I'm back online after being phoneless for four days. I managed to leave my phone outside on Saturday and it poured. There was no saving that baby. I think my husband really enjoyed the fact that I wasn't on my phone 24/7 catching up on instagram, playing candy crush or browsing ebay. In the 14 or so hours I've been back online I think I've somewhat caught up.

I'm moved into the final trimester of this pregnancy and although I am SO excited to meet our little man and overly intrigued to see what he looks like I have had the occasional oh shit moment. Like, oh shit, I have no idea how to look after a baby - I am beyond clueless but know that the husband and I will figure it out.

I'm still going really well - I get the occasional niggle and this boy is very active but I can't complain. I know I have had it very lucky. I've having a baby shower in two weeks and can't wait to see people I haven't seen since we moved up to the coast.

Hump Day, Bump Day ... and wedgie wackers

I keep seeing posts in my blog feed about overalls or dungarees or whatever you want to call them. I can see  that some people can pull them off (kind of) but all I think of when I see overalls is one thing.

Wedgies.
Eh, you say?

Back in 1995/1996 overalls were THE hottest thing out. I had a light denim long pair and a pair of tencel (who remembers that?) black short pair both from Just Jeans. I loved and lived in them. I wore the long ones to one of the first 'socials' I went to in grade 8. For some reason a guy that I went to primary school with decided it would be a good idea to give me a wedgie. It was a wedgie where my feet were not touching the ground. To add to the humiliation my overalls broke and wait for it ... I cried. SHAME.

Fast forward seventeen years (am I really that old?!) and I've ditched the tomboy who used to get around in converse basketball shorts and oversized nike tees and replaced her (or is that him?) with quite the girly wardrobe. I feel a bit huge in this dress but LOVE the pattern and LOVE the monochrome.

Ag-a-doo-doo-doo, push pineapple, shake the tree

Have you ever worn an outfit and then almost immediately regretted it once you're out in public? That could be the case for me today given in my first thirty minutes at work this morning I was referred to as big bird and been told that I have pumpkin legs. Hmmm, perhaps a bad choice?

Coloured tights may not be everyone's cup of tea but when Sussan are selling 120 denier (super thick giving complete coverage) for $10.00 off the regular selling price (bringing them down to $6.95) I had to pick some up. I bought these and a scarlet pair and am thinking of going back to get some of the cobalt ones. The hardest thing when wearing coloured tights is picking a shoe colour to match. Oh, and having the confidence to forget about what others are thinking about your attire. Other bloggers that rock coloured tights regularly are rebecca over at the clothes horse and marisa at the shades of monet chronicles

Oh, I also got my quite pregnant belly out on the beach on the weekend. The husband and I had a lovely Saturday and the weather was just glorious - over twenty eight degrees in May - I knew there was a reason we moved here! I heard some lifesavers behind me whispering about my body - thank god one of them had some sense to say 'she is quite obviously pregnant' ... well thanks, um, i think.
now, less than three months to go! I am frightened at how big this belly is going to get. No signs of any stretch marks just yet - let's hope it stays that way.

Happy Monday.

Hump Day, Bump Day

Wednesday used to mean Hump Day, Pump Day - a day I went to a pump class in my lunch break. Hump Day now seems to be morphing in to Bump Day. Here is said bump at NEARLY 6 months.

Winners, Wearing and Weekends

I'm a little late but remembered that I promised to announce the winners of my trade secret giveaway on Friday. Apologies for the lateness but the random number generator at random.org has picked Kat and Amber. Would love to see your finds - tag me (peta_ballerina) and trade secret (tradesecret_aus) on instagram to show off what bargains you find with your voucher. I'll be in touch via email shortly.
The days have just been beautiful around here lately. Upon recommendation from my aunty and uncle we took Rocky to the dog beach at Coolum - Stumer's creek. He had a ball - so much so that we've been again - twice in a couple of days. My sissy also visited and we had a girls day - I got a seafolly tankini top to wear post-baby and pre-back-to-pre-baby-body from a shop in Caloundra marked down from $160 to $30! It amazes me how much some things cost and amazes me even more that some people pay those sorts of amounts!

In other news my wardrobe clearout is slowly happening. I took five bags to the op shop yesterday and it felt fantastic. What isn't so fantastic is this dress was in the selling/giving away pile and I've decided to keep it for now. It's a good maternity and autumn/winter option and I need all the options I can get!

Saturday officially marks three months till my due date ... I'm not scared yet but I'm sure as the days tick along apprehension and doubt will make an appearance.

What I Wore - Dotti on a Budget

Picked up this cute autumn floral dress from Dotti for the grand sum of about $13.00 on Sunday - a cheap dress for this very awkward stage of dressing. It's a bit vintage with its pleated skirt and I do love the colours. I also went a bit nuts yesterday with jeanswest's 40% off store and site wide sale - you'll be seeing me in (maternity) jeans a lot from now on.

What do you think of my hat? I do love hats - try them on in shops, buy the occasional one and most of the time they sit unworn. Does anyone else have that lack of confidence to wear the hats you have? I mean if Blair Waldorf can rock a hat, surely the rest of us can?!

I got a taste of reality the other day when trade secret linked to this post on their facebook page. It gave me a (very minute) taste of what celebrity's must experience in their daily life with things being written and said about them. The comments may not have been a direct reflection of me but certainly affected me a little bit.

Remember to enter my giveaway if you haven't already!
