What I Wore Wednesday

Happy hump day friends! I am totally looking a bit dorky/boyish today. I really should have been bothered drying and touching my hair up after body attack this morning as it just does not look good tied back.

I've had these volcom skinny pants for years now. I can even recall when I got them and who I was shopping with. They are a staple in my wardrobe and still in great nick, albeit a tiny bit faded.

In other exciting news, I am now a fully qualified BodyPump instructor! I did my initial training back in January and submitted my certification video a couple of weeks ago and found out the good news on Monday. If you have never tried pump at the gym I encourage you to do it. It's such a good workout and adds a bit of variety to your workout.
Another thing I encourage you to do ... watch once upon a time. I seriously LOVED it.
That is all. Peace out xxx
oh, and welcome to my new followers. I appreciate each and everyone's visits

Taking the afternoon off

Quick post today before I cheerio work for the weekend to attend a birthday lunch at one of Toowoomba's best pubs. I was considering taking a long lunch but then decided to have the afternoon off.

The rain hit us last night and so I jumped on the opportunity to try my red hunters for the first time. I also decided to try this navy blue skater dress I got from asos a few months ago. I hadn't worn it yet because when I tried it on after receiving it I thought the arms were too tight. Turns out they are perfect ... or perhaps I have lost weight. Win, win!

I thought I'd also include some other random happenings of late.

how funny is this photo?!

What I Wore Wednesday - Maroon Fever

On this day for many years my uniform for the day was a Queensland state of origin jersey and jeans. For those of you have no idea what i'm talking about, who better to reference than my old friend wikipedia.

State of Origin is the annual best-of-three series of rugby league football matches between the Maroons and the Blues, who represent the Australian states of Queensland and New South Wales respectively.[1] Described as "sport's greatest rivalry,"[2][3]the State of Origin series is one of Australia's and the region's premier sporting events, attracting a huge television audience and usually selling out the stadiums in which the games are played.[4] Despite the existence of international tournaments and State of Origin being a domestic competition, it is frequently cited as being the highest-level of rugby league played anywhere in the world.

Given that I'm a Queenslander through and through, the only colour I'm interested today is maroon. Anyone ever thought it was odd that us Australians pronounce the word maroon as 'marone'?

I picked up these tights at Myer ages ago on a two for ten dollar special. They are terribly short and the quality doesn't seem great. I won't be going back for more that is for sure.

I'm on to episode three of once upon a time. Is anyone else getting in to it? I'm very intrigued that is for sure.

THE wedding dress

The other night while in bed I received a wall post on facebook from a friend telling me that my wedding was featured in the current (winter 2012) edition of Queensland Brides magazine. I was surprised and excited as I didn't know they were going to feature our wedding! Our e-shoot was in the Spring 2011 edition which was amazing so to have our wedding and e-shoot featured is such an honour.

They wrote such lovely words too ...
remember Peta and Pat from their amazing engagement shoot in our Spring 2011 issue? Well now they're married! Held at Murphy's Creek Escape, a bushland setting hald an hour from Toowoomba, the reception featured a silk-lined marquee lovingly styled by Peta with peices from her own enviable 'op shop' collection. We love the vibrant pops of colour (that rainbow cake!), vintage details, personal touches and the bride's superb Dolce&Gabbana frock.
The purpose of this post is not totally about the magazine ... it's about my dress.

One that I saw on net-a-porter and instantly fell in love with.
One that graced the runway and Miley Cyrus.
One that once I decided I wanted it to be THE dress, was sold out.
One that I added to my wishlist.
One that I was then contacted about to say there was one in stock.
One that was about three sizes bigger than I needed.
One that was at a greatly reduced price though.

I bit the bullet and bought it. Buying your wedding dress early does have some negatives though. You see other dresses and wonder if you have chosen the right dress. I now know that I did.
The alterations were carried out by an awesome local dressmaker and you would have never known it wasn't the correct size.
I adore this shot.

I'm spending the weekend with these girls dressed here by basque, asos and cooper st.

all images by the amazing ckmetro photos!
Speaking of Miley, I am in love with this live performance with her dad. He's much better than achy, breaky heart.
I also have to admit that I could easily sit down and watch a Hannah Montana marathon. However lame the jokes are there is just something addictive about the show!

have a fabulous weekend and remember, i love your comments!

What I Wore Wednesday - 70s heaven

Saw this little beauty in Lifeline the other day while shopping with the husband and snapped it up quick smart. The price? $3.50! Beautiful fuchsia colour and straight from the seventies.

So looking forward to this weekend - a weekend with my bridesmaids in the country. It shall be a hoot.

Can I afford Chanel?

Quick post coming to you today on my husband's 27th birthday.

We were super excited to get a save the date card yesterday for my friend Monica's wedding which we will be attending in CALI-FORN-I-A in September. My shopping ban has convinced me to believe that I will be able to buy myself a beautiful Chanel bag/purse when in the U.S but am I kidding myself? I don't even have any idea how much they cost. Is a Marc Jacobs a cheaper option? What other brands are good?

Loving this bunting bracelet I picked up at Dotti a couple of weeks ago. I saw Sophie on The Block had an awesome necklace on. Does anyone know where that is from?

What I Wore Wednesday

Even though it feels like Tuesday today is in fact Wednesday. Why does it feel like Tuesday? Well friends, because us lucky folk here in Queensland had a public holiday on Monday!

Today I braved an item which has the potential to warrant criticism but toned the item down with a plain black top and vintage jacket on Rachel's advice. It is these jeans from asos bought before my shopping ban started ... only eight days ago! I've actually never bought pants off asos fearing that they wouldn't fit but these fit like a dream. Would love to hear what you think!

love this photo!

as always, thanks to my photographer Leah. This photo is awesome!
oh, i also joined the twitter world the other night. Not really sure what I'm doing but I'm sure I'll either work it out or quit using it. My username is petaBallerina : )

On a completely unrelated note ... how HOT did commando look on the biggest loser finale last night?! Going back to teenage speak the only way I can describe him is YUMMY!

Thank Frock it's Friday

Hey hey frockettes. Welcome to Friday and if you're in Australia, the start to a long weekend wahoo!

I've been in a very vintage mood this week - this is my third vintage outfit of the week. This dress is super comfy and is a pretty awesome fit too.

paco sydney vintage dress, target wedges and hat, miss shop bangle, ray ban sunnies @ OPSM

Can't believe I've only been on my shopping ban for 4 days! I haven't given myself the opportunity to be tempted by anything because as soon as any shopping related email hits my inbox it is deleted ... stat!

I plan on doing some garage sales and op shops tomorrow morning though - think I'm going to see if I can find a vintage fur gilet - I have my friend M from Allure and Grace Styling to thank for that in a way. She has me hooked on the Rachel Zoe Project who most of you would know, dies for (faux) fur. Luckily for me, Toowoomba is a great hunting ground for vintage. In some of the regular ops, vintage items can be hunted down and found for a steal ... read - under $5.00. We then have a Lifeline appropriately named The Vintage Wardrobe which exclusively sells vintage items but unfortunately the prices are higher here. It's a great resource though if you haven't got the patience or time to dig and hunt!

I am also a little hooked on Wag Nation. Has anyone else watched it. Jackie is a crap up!

Enjoy your long weekend readers xxx
