What I wore Wednesday

I'm definitely not going to repeat my daily outfit posting like I did on Cool by Association but thought I might make Wednesday an opportunity to feature an outfit I've worn during the week. I got this Zara midi pleated skirt from a church garage sale for a couple of dollars and this is its first outing. I'm not too fussed on the length of skirts like this as they normally are not the most flattering item for vertically challenged people like me but thought I'd see if I could make it work.

ASOS crazy

I may or may not have gone a little loco in the ASOS 70% off sale recently. Who could resist with an additional 10 or 20% off, plus the shops in our local shopping centre have been VERY uninspiring sale-wise of late.

I've been looking for more full/50s style skirts and have yet to find any that are worth the price (e.g. Review) so decided on some culotte-style shorts to try and compensate. I've also been stocking up on blouses to match with said shorts and skirts.

These are on their way to me and should arrive in the next couple of days.

This blouse has already found its way to my closet and it's a winner. It won't be worn for a while though as we are actually experiecing summer now! Here in Toowoomba it's supposed to reach 34 degrees today.

Wishing I could attend one of the flood services in the Toowoomba region today. Thinking about that day one year ago and still cannot believe what happened and probably never will.

A leopard never changes its spots

Until recently I had never really considered cutting my hair seeing myself as more of a leopard like creature who was destined to be one of those old ladies with a plait wrapped into a bun who had always kept her hair long. Okay, that is a bit of an over exaggeration but you long haired girls will know what I mean.

I finally took the plunge this morning and let my sis cut off about half of my hair.

I love it and am so happy I took the plunge!

Buy of the Week

New year - new blog - new idea ... a weekly post focusing on my best buy of the week.

It could be a grocery item, something from an op shop or garage sale or something that I've been waiting to go on sale and have hit some luck.

This week's best buy? ...

A pair of flatties from Katies of all places.

Katies was one of those places that I wouldn't dare to step in to in fear of being seen. I was of the opinion that only people of my mother's age shop there. At some stage though I changed my tune and always have a bit of a rummage when I receive the 50% off the marked price emails at sale time. These shoes were originally a ridiculous price like $39.95 for 100% synthetic but for $12.50 I couldn't leave them behind.

Winner!

Would love to hear what your best buy has been this week.

New year ... new blog

2012 marks a new year for me. A new year with new challenges and so I thought it was only fitting to start a new blog ... on a brand spankin' new sexy laptop.

A massive welcome if you have made your way here from my previous blog Cool By Association, my current business venture blog So Yesterday Vintage Rentals or from facebook. An even bigger welcome if you have stumbled upon my wee portion of the internet from another avenue.

Some things about me:

  • i am a fashion lover but don't consider myself a fashionista ...
  • i am addicted to shopping of all kinds including the second hand variety
  • i am not the tidiest person in the world and this can really bother me at times
  • i am not what i believe is a gym junkie ... a gym enthusiast may be a more realistic title
  • oh, and i'm a new wife

I deliberately have not made any resolutions for this year but do have some goals.
  • qualify as a les mills pump instructor (training coming up in a couple of weeks)
  • build mum and I's new business
  • take more pride in tidying and cleaning, specifically putting clothes away straight away, making sure the washing up is done and putting things back in their place
  • simplify and cull my wardrobe ... i have way too many clothes

This blog will chronicle my trials and tribulations throughout twenty twelve and beyond and will not focus on any one thing in particular.

The reason for the blog title? My husband and I have decided that we will move from our current location, Toowoomba, up to the Sunshine Coast in about a years time. And no, I'm not looking to create a 'new' me --- just a better version ; )

Would love you to join me on this new adventure.
