A day at the races

Last Thursday was spent spending the day with Mel of Allure and Grace Styling at our hometown's big race day - the Weetwood Handicap. After receiving some shoe and clutch advice from M, we headed out.

Toowoomba race days leave a lot to be desired. Lots of young girls wearing skimpy dresses that barely cover their buttocks or are just plainly inappropriate or ugly. There were a few exceptions though. There were some gorgeous headpieces and wonderfully classy and well thought out ensembles.

M teamed a Portmans lace frock with girly accessories and an awesome floppy hat. Here is a quick preview of her outfit but I'm sure she'll do a post over at http://talesoflaceandfrills.blogspot.com

I chose to wear a George Ermis dress with a Morgan and Taylor wool/felt hat and some old, you guessed it, Diana Ferrari heels!

M and I with my bro ... he is on a weight loss mission and has lost over 10kg so far and is looking good!

This same hat was selling at David Jones for around $80 ... I picked it up from a local family department store for $45. The dress was 70% off and was reduced to around $60 and my clutch is from asos.

Man I love the races - it's such an awesome opportunity to rock a frock.

On another note, I really have no idea about makeup. I hardly ever wear eyeshadow because I have no idea. Here is my lame attempt at eyeshadow.

Till tomorrow, xxx

Race Day Fashion Diary

Toowoomba is a big horse racing town and the annual Weetwood race day is nearing. The 10,000+ crowd meet, which coincides with the Toowoomba Show Holiday is the biggest social event of the year.

My go-to-fashion-friend M and I are attending what could be my last Weetwood race day due to the impending move to the Sunshine Coast at the end of the year.

I thought I would do a bit of a re-cap of fashion choices throughout the years - some right, some not so right. Let's just say I'm glad I don't have any photos prior to this as they were probably terrible!

In other sad news I had to replace my blog template. I'm not overly happy with the current one so will  be looking around for a new one.

Hope you enjoyed my little trip down memory lane.

What I Wore Wednesday

I've been feeling a little less than enthused about posting outfit photos recently just because I feel pathetic when I compare myself to the 'real' bloggers out there.

Oh well, here are some photos showcasing today's outfit anyway.

asos heart print blouse, target skirt, cotton on wedges, river island belt, collette purse (gift from the lovely Jess)

Shopping with my twinnie this weekend at the Gold Coast - can't wait.

Enjoy your Wednesday xxx

3 Little Things Market

On Saturday my gal pal M and I spent four hours as stallholders at Toowoomba's first three little things market.

After some initial and MAJOR complications with the clothing racks we had brought along, we were ready just in time for the onslaught of customers who barged through the roller door at ten am. There were people lining up at least half an hour prior to opening which I was surprised about as I was unsure how many people would actually attend given what seemed like limited outside-of-Facebook advertising.

Booking a stall early really did pay off as we were the first stall that most customers came to as we were stall number one right near the goodie bag table (and the entrance)

M has recently started a styling business and her wonderful way of putting items together I think really contributed to the attractiveness of our stall. Check her out her facebook page here and blog here.

The fee for the stall was $55 and split between two people wasn't expensive at all. I was pleasantly surprised to make around $275 profit and would consider participating in the market if it was brought back to Toowoomba in the future.

I hunted and I gathered

Thanks to all of you who left a comment on this post or on Facebook about colour choice for my long awaited Hunter wellies. In the end I decided to go with the safe option and ordered the Hunter Original Adjustable Wellington Boots in gloss black for a bit of pizzazz. I was super excited to get the asos 20% off email just as I was about to place my order over at Country Attire but then was sadly let down when I received the 'this item does not qualify for the applied discount' message. BOO!!

I figure if these fit good and I love them I may treat myself to another pair in red or pink. I am after all, moving to a very raining place (the Sunshine Coast) within the next year and they will be much needed!

Very much looking forward to the 3 little things market that my beautiful friend M and I have booked a stall at tomorrow. Fingers crossed that we sell, sell, sell. I think our store is going to look pretty inviting. Pics on Monday.

Are you on instagram (peta_ballerina) or pinterest (p2thej)? Check me out and I'll follow you back!

My newest pin makes me want my long hair back. How awesome is it?!

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend xxx

p.s. my wedding has been featured on the gorgeous lady who did my wedding makeup's blog - go check her out.

What I Wore Wednesday

Unfortunately I didn't have a whole lot of time this morning to properly think about how I wanted to wear my new Cotton On Exclusives top so just tried to match a colour in the top with an item in my wardrobe. In steps a favourite oppy find ... this neon yellow Cue Skirt.

Cotton On shirt, Cue skirt (thrifted), old faithful flats (eBay), vintage bow tie

Do you think my nails look a bit juvenile? Well too bad, I like them. I used China Glaze Sexy Lady and Hey Sailor. I'm also trying to embrace my curls as they get so many compliments. I just have to forget about the frizz.

I missed doing a buy of the week last week but holy moley I couldn't believe my luck when Myer at Pacific Fair on the Gold Coast had a five dollar rack in the Miss Shop Department. I scored Riders and Bettina Liano jeans, a finders keepers dress, a ladakh dress and a kuku dress. Regular price, the items totalled up to over $600. I got them for $25!!! I may be selling some of them at the 3 little things market on this weekend in Toowoomba. One of my besties, M (check out her blog here) and I have booked a stall together. Hopefully we'll be able to sell some unused items in our wardrobes and make some good dosh!

Have a super Wednesday xxx

Good Enough to Eat

Don't these look DELISH?!

A bit expensive for my taste but maybe a DIY job is in order?
